Fairfield, Iowa

Located in southeast Iowa, Fairfield is a colorful, artsy community and was recently named by Smithsonian Magazine as “one of America’s best small towns."

The Challenge

The city was not clearly positioned and there was the need for increased focus and consistency in the communications of the CVB and City regarding tourism and economic development.

Brand Audit

TDM conducted a one-day Brand Retreat which was followed by interviews, community consultation and a series of brand workshops to engage community leaders in defining the most potent, relevant and unifying brand for the city.  

Positioning

The research and analysis confirmed that Fairfield is Iowa’s most creative and eclectic small city and is busting at the seams with painters, sculptors, musicians, singers, dancers, and poets.

Brand Solutions

The brand strategy and visual identity were embraced cooperatively by the City of Fairfield, as well as the CVB. The brand was founded on Fairfield being Iowa’s most creative and eclectic small community with excellent restaurants, performing arts and live performers and concerts. It is summarized by the tagline, “Tune into our vibe”.
